What programs are available?
Michigan College of Beauty offers Cosmetology, Advanced Esthetics, Nail Technician, and Instructor programs.
How long are the programs?
Cosmetology requires 1,500 hours (students attend 30 hours/week for a total of 50 weeks). Advanced Esthetics requires 750 hours (25 hours/week for 30 weeks). Nail Technician requires 600 hours (25 hours/week for 24 weeks).
What will I learn in Cosmetology?
Students learn hair cutting, styling, coloring, chemical services, skincare, makeup, facial massage, hair removal, manicures, pedicures, employability skills, and state board preparation.
What will I learn in Nail Technician training?
Students learn nail grooming, manicures, pedicures, advanced nail art, artificial nails, wraps, tips, employability skills, and state licensing preparation.
Do I need a high school diploma or GED?
Applicants must have a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED).
What documents are required for enrollment?
Applicants must provide a government-issued ID, proof of Social Security number, a completed enrollment application and a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED)
Are there upcoming start dates?

Will I receive hands-on experience?
Yes. Programs emphasize practical training and hands-on skill development using the Pivot Point curriculum.
Does the school prepare students for licensing?
Yes. Programs are designed to prepare graduates for Michigan state licensing examinations.
How many licensing hours are required?
Michigan cosmetology licensure requires 1,500 training hours. Nail Technician licensure requires 600 hours. Esthetics requires 750 hours. Instructor requires 600 hours.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
What types of financial aid may be available?
Qualified students may be eligible for Federal Pell Grants, Direct Loans, and certain VA education benefits.
