About Us
Michigan College of Beauty-Monroe is a state licensed and nationally accredited, for-profit school offering programs in cosmetology, manicuring, esthetics, and instructor training.
New classes start multiple times each year and financial aid is available to those whoqualify. Most programs take a year or less to complete. In addition to private students, a long-running partnership with the Monroe County Intermediate School District and the Downriver Career Technical Consortium allows high school students to graduate with a license in cosmetology and directly enter the workforce with a highly sought-after skill set.
Michigan College of Beauty-Monroe also offers a full-service salon and spa open to the public, offering a wide range of hair, skin, and nail services. All services are provided by senior students supervised by licensed instructors.
Michigan College of Beauty is proud of its 85-year history. Founded in 1938 as the Michigan College of Beauty Culture, it was later renamed Latress Beauty Academy and again a final time in 1973 as Michigan College of Beauty. As the college grew, it moved to different locations in both the city and the township but never strayed from a commitment to making a strong contribution to the economic vitality of the Monroe community. The college is extremely proud to provide a successful educational pathway for individuals looking to start a thriving beauty career in the Monroe area.

I've been coming to the College for over a year now, to get my hair colored, and cut. I absolutely love the atmosphere, the instructors are knowledgeable, and the students for the most part do try their best! I've had one experience that wasn't how I'd hoped, but it turned out to actually be fine! The instructor was willing to do whatever it took to correct the mistake, however it ended up not being needed. I really enjoy coming here, and was here today for a cut/color and left happy! I'll definitely keep coming back! 💖

Jen did my hair and it went amazing, by far the best hair experience I've ever had. I got my hair highlighted for the first time and trimmed and it looks great. The energy in there is 10/10 and everyone was super friendly and down to earth.
