Cosmetology Student Wins $1000

Prize from National Makeover Competition

Monroe , MI – Stephanie Miller, 18, from Michigan College of Beauty won the November makeover contest sponsored by www.TheAmericanMakeover.com.  The website, recently launched in October 2007,  is the only national online makeover competition for cosmetology students.  Students can compete for a monthly prize package valued at $1,000 and for the annual Top Student Artist Award with a grand prize package valued at $25,000.  The competition is fully web-based: students can enter, submit their makeover photos, vote for other makeovers, and view the winners all online.

TheAmericanMakeover.com competition is open to all U.S. cosmetology students.  Students are encouraged to have their school sponsor them by paying a small annual entry fee, or if a student’s school does not want to sponsor them, the student can still enter as an “independent student” for only $50.   Once registered, each student can submit one makeover entry per month.  The entry includes a “Before” photo of their client prior to the makeover, and an “After” photo of their new look.  All before and after photos will be posted on the website for public viewing.  Students, instructors, friends, and family can cast their vote for their favorite makeover.  Makeovers will be judged based on the style, creativity, and attractiveness of both hair and makeup.

“She had a great choice and strong enough change to make it noticeable, keeping it commercial yet fresh and contemporary. Her explanation was confident, clear and concise. The photo also showed the best angle for the cut. You could see the attitude change in the model. Great job!”, explains Eric Gomez, Judge and Co-owner of Preen Salon in Fresno , CA .  Eric is also the Regional Education director for TIGI BEDHEAD and regularly conducts hairdressing seminars locally, nationally, and internationally as part of the TIGI International Creative Team.

Suzi Picaso, Judge and CEO of Suzi Q Cosmetics stated, “The student was creative in the precise cut for the client’s face and hair color. Color combination blends well and looks seamless. Makeup is simple yet adds just enough color to bring the whole look together. Keeping the flow of the overall look polished and finished. Great job!” Suzi Picaso is the founder and creative force behind Suzi Q Cosmetics and is a creative image maker with over 20 years experience in makeup artistry.

The monthly winner will have their winning makeover “After” photo displayed on the home page of the website for one month and the winner will receive a dedicated page on the website called Winning Artist. http://www.theamericanmakeover.com/index.php?n=12&id=12   Prizes may vary each month and may include cash, hair products, makeup products, cosmetology tools, digital camera, and gift certificates from sponsors like Cosmebeautica, LLC and Suzi Q Cosmetics for example.
